Friends of the Kreutz Creek Valley Library is a branch support group made up of civic-minded patrons who recognize that a good library is central to a good community. They organize committees which raise funds, help promote library awareness and help to improve and expand library service.

The Friends group is organized apart from the library and has its own by-laws, officers and organization. It works with the librarian in planning activities, but its members are not involved, except as interested citizens, in the governance of the library.

Activities of the Friends group include:

• Creating public support for the library

• Informing the community of library programs and needs

• Raising funds to meet the yearly financial commitment

• Encouraging gifts, endowments and memorials

• Working for library legislation and appropriations

• Sponsoring special programs such as author visits or book sales

• Volunteering to work in the library

• Providing the wide community support that is essential to the library’s success

The Friends group has a contract, signed yearly, with the York County Library System to operate the Kreutz Creek Valley Library. The Friends provide a percentage of the overall operating expense of this library.

How can you become a Friend?

• Can you help promote the library in our community?

• Would you help raise funds to meet our yearly financial commitment?

• Would you help seek funding from local governments in our service area?

• Can you help develop special programs such as author visits, book sales or book discussion groups?

• Could you volunteer—regularly or as a trained substitute—to work in our library?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions, please consider becoming a Friend of Kreutz Creek Valley Library Center.
