Magazines

All of the York County libraries have circulating magazine collections. In most cases, only a few months of backfiles are maintained.  Those libraries with more extensive collections are listed below.

Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock - Paper backfiles are available.  Magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks and renewed twice.

Glatfelter Memorial Library - Paper backfiles are available.  Magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks and renewed twice.

Hanover Public Library - Approximately 2 years of paper backfiles are available.  Magazines may be checked out for 1 week with one renewal.

Mason-Dixon Public Library - Paper backfiles are available.  Magazines may be checked out for 2 weeks and renewed twice.

Martin Library - Most magazines circulate for a period of two weeks and may be renewed twice.  Up to one year of backfiles are available.

For Your Research Needs - The Power Library

Thousands of full-text magazine articles may be obtained through the Power Library, a service provided by the State of Pennsylvania for the citizens of Pennsylvania.  The Power Library is available at all York County libraries and at home--via our web page--to anyone with a York County library card.

Other Research Collections

SPIES - SPIES, the Southern PA Information Exchange Source maintains a list of magazines held by member libraries.  Members in SPIES include school, public, and academic libraries in York, Adams, and Franklin Counties, and a few Cumberland County libraries.  Articles from magazines in this collection can often be obtained through Interlibrary Loan.

To view the list, go to the SPIES home page at www.ship.edu/~spies/ and click on Periodical List.  The file will open as an Excel spreadsheet with the magazines listed in alphabetical order by title.

Schmidt Library - York College of Pennsylvania maintains a large collection of journals in its Schmidt Library.  You can search the Library Catalog  for information on title availability.   Click on the arrow under Search For and select periodical title.   Print, microform, and electronic journals are included.  Most electronic journals are accessible only to York College  students and faculty.

Penn State York Library - The Penn State catalog, The Cat, may be searched by logging in as a guest.  To search by periodical title, click on the arrow below Select Search Type and select Journal Title.  Journals are available in microform and electronically.  Electronic journals are accessible to Penn State students and faculty only.
