Get a Library Card Need a card right away?
Get a temporary card. If you are a York County resident, you can register for a free YCLS library card. Bring your Pennsylvania driver's license or some other identification that has your current street address to the nearest YCLS library. (Sorry, a PO Box is not sufficient.) Also, anyone who works in York County, college students with an ID from a York County college, and any Pennsylvania resident who has a library card with an Access Pennsylvania sticker are eligible for a YCLS library card. Cards may be issued to persons of any age, from birth on up. However, a parent of guardian must sign, in person, the registration application of children 12 and under. You can register, get a library card, and check out books the same day. A YCLS card may be used at any York County Library System library. For more, see our borrowing policies.
